Calcium fluoride (CaF2) has a low absorption coefficient and a high damage threshold, providing low dispersion (abbe number 95) and low fluorescence as well as excellent water resistance, chemical resistance and heat resistance. In a dry environment, CaF2 can be used up to 1000 °C, But in wet conditions, degradation occurs at temperatures above 600 °C. Each window plate has a randomly oriented crystal axis.
